Home Truths Online presents a gallery of beautiful and sometimes disturbing art made by young people who’d experienced life as newly arrived refugees, had lived with mental illness or domestic conflict.
In 2004 Kickstart Arts brought together professional artists, health workers and young people to make art about home, and the project was a resounding success.

In Home Truths Online, six years later, Kickstart reconnects with 10 of the people involved about the experience and explores how they went about making the art as well as presenting useful resources and ideas.
Aimed at community service providers, schools, artists and other Community Cultural Development organisations, Home Truths will provide a valuable resource for people interested in developing arts and health projects.

This online resource explores a significant partnership arts project between Kickstart Arts and health organisations that brought together professional artists, health workers and at risk and refugee young people to make art about home.

Independent evaluation found the project had enhanced young people’s well-being, connected young people with services and each other and aided support organisations to deliver services more effectively.
Home Truths will be launched this August.
