About Lightning Bolt

After 15 years of waiting, and praying, Lightning Bolt are finally touring Australia!

Hailing from Rhode Island, USA, Lightning Bolt is a noise rock duo consisting of bassist Brian Gibson and drummer Brian Chippendale. Last we left this amplified tribe of two on 2005s Hypermagic Mountain, Lightning Bolt were tossing thousand of years worth of musical history into a wood chipper and coming up with some chewy chainsaw taffy. The new album, Earthly Delights, embarks on a musical journey that will take you to places both divine and sublime.

Lightning Bolt are presented by Heathen Skulls and Street Press Australia.

Supported by the Premier’s Arts Partnership Fund.

Hobart Fringe Festival Zine Workshops

Emma Songdahl, our in-house zine benefactor, is holding a zine workshop as part of the Hobart Fringe Festival.

FRINGE FESTIVAL ZINE WORKSHOP, 12 – 3:30pm Saturday 14th November, e-media, Centre for the Arts, Hunter Street.

A diverse number of participants are desired to create a collaborative zine. Participants will also learn all about zines, different zine mediums, brainstorm themes and ideas, and be shown how to actually mass-produce an A5 black and white zine.

Cost is $5 perhead. BYO pens, collage materials etc, think what will be good.

There are only 15 spots available and it is first in best dressed.

If interested, please contact Emma on 0447481336
e-mail: missemmacass@yahoo.com.au

Each participant will receive one free copy of the zine at the end of the session. The zine will be launched a week later at the Fringe Club, where there will be more on sale for a small fee.
The atmosphere will be very relaxed and cater to all levels of experience. But I will need participants to pay before hand to secure your place and fund the operation.

Hobart Fringe!

The Hobart Fringe Festival is on again!

With all sorts of events and happenings and goings-on, there really is something for everyone to get involved with. From the traditional Super 8 contest (which I happen to be on the judging panel for!) to the Night Market to Bust-a-Move Physical theatre workshops.

You can download the full program here. Or find a copy in your local bar or cafe.

The Hobart Fringe Inc. is a not for profit organisation. The primary aim of the group is to organise an annual community arts festival. The focus of the festival is experimental, emerging and multi-disciplinary art.

We aim to showcase the talent that hasn’t yet made it in our arts adverse, commercial world, bringing attention to those inhabiting the margins that would otherwise be left unnoticed.
